A 20-YEAR-old stole cans of beer from an off-licence in Walton on Thursday (28).

The thief, described as white, between 5ft and 6ins tall, with short spiky hair and wearing a grey hooded jacket stole beer, valued at £30 from Wine Rack, in Terrace Road, before fleeing on foot.

Walton and Weybridge Regatta takes place this Saturday (June 6) along the River Thames and organisers have their fingers crossed the weather stays dry in the run up to the races.

Racing begins at 9am from Walton Marine to Walton Rowing Club and a number of eights, fours, pairs and single sculls, sponsored by businesses from both towns, will set off along the 1,000m run.

Rain did not deter trundlers at this year's Towpath Trundle raising money for The Princess Alice Hospice on Sunday May 17.

Almost 1,000 walkers registered for the 17th annual Towpath Trundle from Sadlers Rise, in West Molesey and Walton Bridge.

Mr Taylor, the Tory MP for Esher and Walton since 1987, spoke out after it was revealed he claimed more than £23,000 last year for a second home, despite only living a short distance from the capital, at his primary address in Guildford.

A Fun Day is being held at Walton Working Mens' Club in Church Street to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis on Bank Holiday Monday May 25.

The fund-raising day, which runs from 12pm till 6pm, is being held to raise money for The Royal Brompton and Harefield Charitable Fund, after one of the club's member's lost his daughter to the disease.

A 23-year-old man came off his motorbike and was thrown into hedgerow at the side of Walton Road, on Saturday.

The rider, from Walton, sustained fractures to both legs and a fracture to his left arm when the blue Yamaha YZF he was driving left the road about 8.32pm..
