Walton optometrist completed the London Marathon in five hours 18 minutes on Sunday (26) raising money for The Princess Alice Hospice.

Meera Patel, 28, who works in Specsavers, in High Street, decided to raise money for the hospice in West End Lane, Esher, after seeing her mother-in-law pass away there last year.

Groups have been established thanks to the Dear Dilys agony column which is published in editions of the Informer newspaper, and they've been going strong for 18 months.

Allotments that were overgrown and unused have been brought back to life as the Walton on Thames Charity partners up with the Walton and District Allotment and Garden Society (WADAGS).

Four allotment sites in Home Farm and Ryden's Road, Walton, were originally part of the Poor's Allotments but have since become overgrown and not in use.

High Street in Walton will be closed to traffic on Saturday to allow Three Valleys Water to carry out emergency repairs to a water pipe.

According to Surrey County Council's website the work with effect the A22 Hesham Road on its Southbound carriageway by the pedestrian island at the junction with Ashley Road, and it will last from April 4 to 6.

Road users will be diverted via Station Avenue and Ashley Road.
