The Riverhouse arts centre, in Manor Road, is hosting an evening with double bass player Leon Bosch.

Taking place on Saturday March 14, Leon will be accompanied by Alison Rhind, on the piano, and his programme will include work by 19th century bass players Bottesini and Koussevitzky.

Youngsters from Elmbridge put pen to paper during the half-term week at The Heart in Walton as part of Explore Learning's story writing competition.

Visitors to the Explore Learning store in New Zealand Avenue, could enjoy free educational activities with a 'Story Wheel,' where they could get down to planning and creating an exciting story.

The Youth Engagement Scheme (YES) returned to Walton Fire Station earlier this month as the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service's initiative gets set to expand across the county.

The first of its kind in Surrey, YES involves twelve young people, aged 14 - 16, spending a week at Walton Fire Station, in Hersham Road, where they experience hands-on training about the essentials of being a firefighter.

Cyclists from Elmbridge have signed a petition to urge Surrey Council high ways chiefs to look into improving safety for them on the roads.

More than 80 signatures have so far been collected by cyclists and they will be presented to the council's Elmbridge Local Committee meeting on Monday March 9 at Elmbridge Civic Centre in Esher.

A 26-year-old from East Molesey admitted to burglary at Staines Magistrates Court on Monday (23).

Lewis Cole, 26, of Grange Road, broke into Townsends Chemist in Ambleside Avenue, Walton, between 11.40pm and 11.45pm on Saturday February 21.

A Magical Mystery Tour is being held this Saturday (21) at the Riverhouse Arts Centre, in Manor Road, Walton.

Starting at 2.30pm, children aged six and over, will be treated to a selection of wacky songs performed by Hilary James and Simon Mayor, who have previously presented BBC's Play School.

A new choir is being launched in Elmbridge that is specifically aimed for women.

The Elmbridge Ladies Choir has been formed to act as a sister group to the Elmbridge Choir, whose numbers were getting so large, that they started a waiting list.

A fashion lecture is being held in Weybridge to raise money for the Woking and Sam Beare Hospices.

The talk on the history of underpinning is being held on Friday February 20 in the parish hall of Christ the Prince of Peace Church, in Portmore Way.

Everyone is welcome to attend, doors open at 7.00pm and all money raised goes to the hospices, who provide palliative care and support for patients and their families.

A businessman ran all the way into Weybridge on Sunday (8) from Clapham to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Mark Shearer, 29, left his home in Clapham with his friend James Smith and they arrived in Wood Lane, about 12.30am. The 22-mile run only took them three hours and 18 minutes.

A Walton teenager was given 200 hours of community service on Wednesday February 4 at Staines Magistrates Court following a burglary at Walton News in St John's Drive.

The burglary, where an amount of cigarettes and alcohol was taken, took place on November 1 last year.
