Spider makes me higher

mark.jpgSorry for the delay in my latest blog, I have been on holiday.

Well, that and being a bit ill. But listen to this story, I think you'll like it.

Here I am, back in the office and undergoing the typical bizarre week you get at local papers.

On Friday I got a call from a Walton woman, saying she found a massive yellow spider sitting on her front porch.

Me and my news editor Natalie jumped at the thought of this large neon beast escaping from a mango or banana, so I rushed down there with a camera.

It turned out to be about two inches, so my hopes were immediately dashed, and my camera was too rubbish to capture the creature, so I bought it back to the office in a bug box held in my car's cup holder.

When I bought it into the news room everybody jumped, and there was a big fuss until resident nature man Russell 'the seargent' Butt told everyody it was a common garden spider.

Sigh.

The really funny thing was though, is that the lady wanted it back for good luck, so I drove for half an hour in the mid-afternoon traffic to give it to her, only to find out she was going to release it.

Oh well, at least it was a fun half a day.

We'd like to hear from you.
